The young man is explaining some design ideas for a ride to a man was told is a new employee, when in fact he’s actually the company’s CEO. In this instance, the CEO is Joel Manby, President and CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment. I believe this was at Silver Dollar City, a park I haven’t been to since I was a child.

I haven’t played that game in a long time. Even when I was running RCT Station, I only played the game for a few years. I haven’t had it installed or playing in at least three years. I couldn’t help but be shocked and somewhat overjoyed to see that old game show up on television.

The promos never impressed me and after seeing the movie, this movie reminded me of what’s wrong with the video game industry. So much emphasis is put into stunning graphics that the producers don’t put any work on the story. Almost every reasonably successful PC game now is some pointless first person shooter and the success of Cameron’s latest film reminded me of it.

There’s no question that Avatar looked stunning, but it doesn’t make up for a relatively mediocre story. The love story was worse than most made-for-TV garbage. The militaristic approach to dealing with a pesky a native population story was so cliche-ridden I wanted to vomit.

I lost interest in the film a lot earlier than I suppose I should have. There should be more to a movie than pretty graphics.

It’s unclear what it was exactly that I liked about the show… probably the action because as a kid, I also enjoyed Dukes of Hazzard and professional wrestling, so it goes hand in hand with the action on those shows.

However, as I grew up, I think one of the attractive things about the show is the fact that one man can use his mind to overcome just about any obstacle. Sure, it can be said that many of Mac’s creations were completely fake or greatly exaggerated as to their effectiveness, but many of his creations were real.

The show is quite tame to today’s standards. The blood and gore was much more family friendly.

And then there’s the simplicity of life. Imagine a time when having an unlisted number actually meant you wouldn’t be called all day by the robo-telemarketers. MacGyver show does a great job of showing how far we’ve come with the advancements in computing power.

I hope MacGyver creator Lee David Zlotoff doesn’t go through with his plan for a movie if Richard Dean Anderson isn’t involved. RDA was everything to this show. I can’t imagine watching Mac being played by anyone else. Burn Notice is darn close to a modern successor. There’s no need for a “MacGyver II” series featuring his son or something silly like that.

On a side note, can we not let the “MacGruber” finish filming. It’s ridiculous that SNL has allowed that sketch to go beyond the first two or three. They aren’t funny anymore and I can’t imagine what they’re doing turning MacGruber into a feature film. Keep them as terrible SNL sketches, not a bad feature film.

A web without Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace doesn’t seem like all that long ago. My, how the web has changed since I really got into it in 1998-99.

Some of the best shows on television are at Comic-Con this year and some of them are my favorites. PSYCH (USA Network) happens to be one of them and they’re giving out exclusive PSYCH comic books to a couple of lucky fans at Comic-Con.

It makes me envious.

It’s a great set of DVDs, but now a new set of DVDs has been announced for hitting the street in February 2009. This seems like another lame attempt at getting money if you ask me. They’re releasing all of the movies individually and giving the first Back to the Future film a second disc with bonus features.

I will give Universal credit for the DVD cover art. It looks fantastic. Still, I don’t intend to buy the new DVDs. I would consider BluRays though.

The Dark Knight, on the other hand, isn’t even out yet, and it’s getting the attention of every film critic in the world. And it’s all because of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker. When I first saw a picture of him as the joker, it didn’t make much of an impression, to be honest, but now that I’ve seen official trailers and other sneak previews, I’m really interested in seeing this film. There’s just something about it that makes me smile. I haven’t seen great acting in a long, long time.

The drives will begin manufacturing very soon and will be shipped in the third quarter of this year. I suspected that Microsoft would realize that there’s money to be made and regardless of their rivalry with Sony, they’re a company and they want to make money.

This all comes out at a rather ironic time though. A piece of news surfaced about the fact that BluRay players and disks aren’t selling as fast as people had hoped for and many consumers claimed they couldn’t tell the difference between DVDs and BluRay.

Haha. I had to laugh at that because on my tiny 20″ LCD monitor, I can tell the difference. I can’t imagine what BluRay on a 40+ inch HDTV would look like. DVD is a great format. It’s leaps and bounds ahead of VHS, but consumers will eventually come around. Because of BluRay, I have stopped purchasing movies on DVD. I’m frankly holding my cash for TV shows on DVD which I know won’t see BluRay releases for years [if ever] and will buy the others when BluRay players and movies become affordable. Players currently cost over $300!

The Onion began as kind of a MidWest answer to National Lampoon at the University of Wisconsin, and coming from the MidWest, I’m all for it. I don’t spend nearly as much time on their website as I would like to, but when I do, I always laugh at something there.
