Grand Theft Auto IV Nears Release
Grand Theft Auto isn’t a series of games I’ve ever played. I can understand why some people love the games, but there hasn’t been anything shown to me that made me want to go out and buy it. It’s just not my thing, I guess.
But the level of attention the game gets always interests me. Some of it’s good and some bad. The bad tends to focus on the violence that this and other games include. The praise this year doesn’t seem to be from the typical groups of fanboys. I watched the video review on IGN the other day and was somewhat impressed by what I saw. Not all of it appealed to me [lapdances in video games? WTF!?].
What I thought looked interesting was the fact that you can pretty much do anything you want in it. Open-ended games are very appealing to me. I don’t being limited to a scenario. One of my favorite things in the RollerCoaster Tycoon & Age of Empires games is you are free to do whatever you want.
I’m sorry…I can’t get past the point of the game. I’ve played a lot of violent games, of course, but GTA seemed to be over the top to me. I’d probably feel like slime after playing it for a couple of hours 😉
What caught my attention was the huge world to “play” with. The violence in the game has never interested me. I don’t think I’ll buy it. It’s way too much money for a game which I don’t think I’ll play very much.
